This whitepaper describes intended protocol behaviour and may change before deployment.
1,500 cells in a 60 × 25 monospace grid. Each cell holds one printable ASCII character — or nothing.
ERC-721. 10,000 Frames at genesis, each with its own byte count. Many are burned at launch to seed BYTE liquidity. #0 is the Black Canvas.
Hybrid token. ERC-20 and BYTE NFT, exchangeable 1:1 through the protocol pool. No price. Just gas.
Burn a Frame → receive BYTE equal to its byte count. Spend BYTE → write or overwrite characters in any Frame you own. Spent BYTE is destroyed.
Cell positions and characters are stored in contract bytecode via SSTORE2. tokenURI builds JSON and SVG on-chain from that data. Every edit is a transaction; every transaction is history the chain replays.

Burning destroys Frame #{{ burnIdp }} permanently. You receive $BYTE equal to its byte count, as tokens. The Black Canvas cannot be burned.
{{ phPrev }}Before pixels there were keys. For 130 years people have made pictures from the characters of a machine: first on paper, then in code, and now on-chain.
{{ fiTitle }}Soft stake: sign once, Frames stay in your wallet and earn 8% of every fee, weighted by byte count. Listing, selling or transferring a Frame unstakes it and forfeits unclaimed rewards — claim first.
